Cole
Holland
Cole
was born and raised in Hamilton by his grandparents, while his
mother, father, and aunt toured as a country and western singing
group. He was 9 years old when he took his first organ lesson.
At the age of nineteen he started playing at organ clubs. He received
his B.A. in music from McMaster University.
To bring home the bacon, he sold organs at Costello’s in Hamilton,
sold organs at the Canadian National Exhibition, and also sold
organs at Heintzman’s in Northtown Plaza.
He played one concert at the famous Organ Grinder restaurant in
Toronto before it closed. Cole has played three concerts at the
Casa Loma Wurlitzer pipe organ and is now president of the Toronto
Theatre Organ Society. It has been said that at one of the Casa
Loma concerts that night’s featured organist did not show up.
At a moment’s notice, Cole volunteered to put on a show, and he
certainly did!
